STOP WOKE Education in Cupertino Union School District
STOP WOKE Education in Cupertino Union School District
Why this petition matters
The parents of Cupertino Union School District (CUSD) in California are deeply concerned about the critical social identity materials taught in the 3rd grade class in Nov 2020 without notification to parents. The children were asked to deconstruct their identity they were born with including race, sex and religion and rank them according to power and privilege. This racism-based curriculum teaches hate in our children and rips apart our families. The CUSD schools have been turned into political battle grounds and our children have become the political targets. There are numerous reports about children being traumatized by this kind of teaching in classroom, and parents are extremely concerned. The practice of indoctrinating small children in classrooms for certain political views violates multiple State education codes and board policies. Yet such practices are common in CUSD and have been going for years.
We, as the CUSD parents, demand that the CUSD board take the following actions to correct these wrong doings in the district.
1. The CUSD shall immediately cease all mandatory training to teachers on critical pedagogy supported by Units of Study and cancel the contracts with the Columbia Teacher’s College on such training programs.
2. The CUSD Board shall immediately enact policies against indoctrination in K-8 schools such as the AR6144 and BP6144 board policy in FUHSD to prevent teachers from using his/her position to forward his/her own religious, political, economic, or social bias. Board shall specify potential disciplinary actions on violation of such polices to the CUSD staff, parents, and residents.
3. The Principal of Meyerholz elementary school, where the extreme racism materials were taught to the 3rd graders, shall resign from her position. Board shall recruit a new Principal who will put the safety and welfare of the Meyerholz students first and above all.
Please make a note on your resident status when signing, for example, Santa Clara county residents or parents, CUSD residents or parents, Meyerholz parents etc.
