With almost everything rising in cost, millions of Australians are living in poverty and cannot make ends meet. Especially with all the Covid issues and people losing their jobs, more and more people are relying on Centrelink to try and survive, try being the key word. Not only are the current Centrelink payments below the poverty line, but it isn't even enough money to cover one weeks worth of rent for most Australians. Let alone for things like food and other necessities to live. 

The cost of living is so high right now that even people with full time jobs are struggling to make ends meet, so no wonder people on Centrelink can't afford even to pay rent. The Australian Government should be absolutely ashamed of themselves for keeping these payments so below the poverty line, people are suffering. Let us make sure they increase it. Every single type of Centrelink payment is below the poverty line, let that sink in.

The eventual goal of this petition is to have enough people see it where we can start peaceful protests near each Centrelink location, because enough is enough. We won't be trying to disrupt Centrelink but we will be trying to spread awareness to our suffering. Change is brought about by action, so let us act now.
