This will create so much pressure from people recovering from eating disorders.

I'm signing because we need to change the way policy and society think about healthy eating and lifestyle. Introducing a new policy that focuses on calorie counting and BMI is not a safe, effective or true way to encourage and empower people to eat well. On top of that, it is going to have devastating effects on those already suffering from EDs and potentially increase this mental health issue's prevalence. Instead of calories, why not focus on nutrition and ingredient transparency? You know, the things that actually matter? Why not increase taxes on fast food? Why provide more fresh food to food banks and those struggling to feed their families? Why not educate on how to prepare simple, nutritious meals at home?

Applying a one for all fix is useless and will have a negative impact on too many people.

This is yet another strategy introduced by people who unlikely suffer from the negative effects of what they do.

I too suffer form an eating disorder, having lost 2 stone in under 2 months I am desperate to stop fixating on calories. I am now classed as severely underweight despite being a 24 year old woman. Eating for me is a daily struggle, so to have number in my face as I try to decide is enough to completely lose my appetite.

There has to be another way, the current system on weight measurement is flawed using outdated system of BMI. People don’t need to be shamed into loosing weight. We should love the body we have and yes consider health implications but it’s more complicated than taking a broad brush approach. Shame on the government for this. Crash dieting is as bad and can cause as many health issues.
