Removal of “My Rainbow” from the Cunningham Creek Elementary library

Removal of “My Rainbow” from the Cunningham Creek Elementary library
Why this petition matters
The book, “My Rainbow” by Trinity Neal, is about a little girl that thinks that she is transgender. Not only is this content inappropriate for elementary age students, it is currently accessible to all of the students at CCE without any parental guidance or consent.
Our goal is to collect signatures to present to the Media Advisory Committee meeting tomorrow, February 9, 2022, in hopes that they will respect the voices of the parents and remove this book from the library.
The negative impact is that this book introduces confusion and manipulation to our children about who they are. It lies to children about what their gender is and also what they look like or are “supposed to look”like. This type of book about gender identity is not age-appropriate and steals the learning environment away from the family to discuss these matters when a parent feels is right for their child.
In addition to parents rights being taking away, content like this book, surrounding sexual identity such as transgenderism, can lead to suppressed feelings, social isolation, violence, hyper sexualization and disempowered sex roles, reduced economic opportunities, anxiety, depression, lack of self identity, and so much more.
