Today, Cumbria County Council made the awful decision of returning two young boys to the custody of their grandmother despite being provided with video and audio evidence that both boys were being abused. The police are still investigating the assaults but Social Services felt the fact that the grandmother agreed to work with them meant they were safe to return. 

This is despite the fact that she has a known history of abusive behaviour towards her daughters. 

It is a travesty that because the children's mother struggled to break away from Domestic Abuse from her ex partner that Social Services hold that against her. There is no longer a threat as ex is now in prison.

Just think, this means that every woman who has previously been in an abusive relationship where they are the victims, are then classed as a risk to their own children.

The system is wrong and needs to be overhauled
