Brianna Newsome started this petition to Cumberland Public Schools

Cumberland County Schools have recently come down with a scabies outbreak. Monday, September 30th was when the first outbreak occurred in the elementary school. Since then we have had many more cases in both the elementary and middle school. On October 7th, Cumberland High School started having cases of scabies as well.

The school board has said that the students should quarantine themselves, however, some parents will not allow their children to miss more than a week of school. Parents are still sending their kids to school and more students are getting scabies. If nothing is done about the scabies outbreak it is highly likely that all students and teachers will get scabies as well.

I believe, along with many others, that the school should close down for a week or two. if that is not possible then the school needs to at least suspend the kids who have scabies to prevent them from spreading it. Although, suspending kids may not work as well as shutting down the school due to families who have multiple children.  Scabies is not fun to have and very disgusting to have as it is bugs (mites) in your skin. Please help us show the school board that this is a major issue.
