Sarah Bella Kline started this petition to CU Boulder and

Since the second week on campus every single freshman living in the residential halls have had to wash their laundry multiple times and then dry their laundry multiple times just to simply not smell like they live in a Zoo and not walk around in sopping wet mildewed clothes. Since the second week on campus not a single washed or dryer in the residence halls work the way they should. The worst part is, each time it costs $1.50 to use the machines, but each time you swipe your card or put in quarters it’s a gamble if that machine will even turn on. Even the ability to use the washing machines or dryers is a luxury considering the fact that usually only one of each is “in order” (and even that one is still not working properly) and there is a line of students waiting in front of you to use it. But even if all of the Machines were somehow repaired permanently and never broke again, there are still not enough machines for the amount of student in the building. The washing machines are also significantly too small for a typical load of laundry especially compared to the much bigger dryers. These machines are completely outdated, and far too expensive to use for the average student especially considering they usually have to run the machine multiple times just to wash or dry their clothes properly. An activity that should take an hour and a half now takes 4-5 hours for the average student having to run the same machine multiple times and not even including the time waiting in line to use the machines which could be anywhere from 10 minutes to 5 hours.
Doing laundry should be free, easy and it should work. Don’t make student pay to use outdated, out of order washers and dryers.
Replace every washer and dryer in the residential halls with twice as many brand new working machines and make them free to use for all students. Clean clothes should not be a luxury for those who can afford it, they should be a right every student has.
Everyone should go to the laundry town hall meeting in Kitt Central Multi Purpose Room on November 8th at 5:00 pm, the more people that go the more impact it will have.
