GUIDING PRINCIPLES AND VALUES OF THE PARTIES
Whereas, the California State University (CSU) seeks to be a premier workplace of choice that provides opportunities for our members to develop intellectually, personally, and professionally; the CSU recognizes that bargaining unit members provide critical public services that enrich the university and its communities;
Whereas, the California State University Employees Union (CSUEU) seeks harmonious and cooperative labor relations and a strong university workforce, where all members of the campus community are respected and valued;
Therefore, the parties agree to these guiding principles and values:
We believe in the right to a competitive compensation structure with predictable movement through the salary schedule.
We believe that employees should have an established career path that recognizes their knowledge, service and skills.
We believe employees should be valued and given priority consideration for promotional opportunities in our bargaining units.
We believe that outsourcing and privatization are not in the best interests of the university community.
We believe in the right to be informed and trained on statewide and campus policies and procedures that impact employees’ work. We believe in the right to be safe and secure at work, free from abusive conduct and harassment in the workplace.
We believe in the right to work in a healthy environment, free from hazards and harmful exposures.
We believe in transparency and fairness when it comes to decisions that affect staff, both as employees and individuals.
We believe in the right to privacy, including all confidential information maintained by the campus. This includes the right to be free from intrusive electronic monitoring.
We believe in respect for the freedom of expression as members of the university community.
