Suka Vo started this petition to CSU Art Department

In recently discovering that Adobe programs such as Photoshop, Illustrator, Lightroom, and etc. are still paid for by the art students at CSU, I found it disheartening to find out that the art department is still charging students (who are already struggling financially) to pay for programs that they NEED in order to take classes.

With the student discount, we could pay for these programs for $20/month. It may seem way cheaper compared to the regular rates but within just a semester I'm dropping $100. If I were to pursue a graphic design major for another year (2 semesters), I'm paying another $250 as the rate goes up to $30/month after the first year of subscription.

For some, this might seem like a small amount considering how much money we spend on our art kits and materials but during a time like a global pandemic, students are having a difficult time finding housing, food, and jobs, let alone programs they need to take their class on top of their tuition. This isn't a far fetched request since I know other schools such as Denver University provides free Adobe access to ALL of their students, not just art majors.

It would just be a shame if students couldn't pursue their majors and careers simply due to the fact that they couldn't afford the tools they need to succeed and I don't see any resources to help that need. If the school can't provide free access to Adobe programs, at least they should have cheaper alternatives or grants to help make this more accessible to art students.
