Naomi Brim started this petition to CSA and

We should allow Carleton students the option of displaying their gender pronouns on the Carleton Student Directory.

It is essential that students learn and respect each others' preferred gender pronouns to foster a safe and inclusive campus environment.

Students could use the campus directory as a resource for easily checking people's preferred pronouns if they are unsure. It would hopefully decrease the number of times that people are misgendered. This would be optional rather than mandatory, for people who either don't feel comfortable displaying their pronouns, are still figuring their pronouns out, or don't want to choose any fixed pronouns!

We have the technological means to add this option. It would not cost the college much money or time. And it could make a step towards demonstrating that we are a campus that respects and acknowledges people's gender identities -- especially for non-binary and trans folks who might be tired of being misgendered or reminding people of their pronouns time and time again.

Sign this petition if you think this could be a good idea! If you have feedback or concerns, let me know. If people are on board, this could be submitted to CSA to show that the idea has student support.
