Build a concrete skate park in Coulsdon / Old Coulsdon

This petition is to show support and to prove that there is a genuine local need for a concrete skatepark in Coulsdon / Old Coulsdon.

There is a lack of suitable skate facilities in the local area and this project would help to remedy this. The nearest free skatepark is 20 minutes away and the only reasonably local skatepark (Caterham) is indoor and charges an entry fee.

With Skateboarding now in the Olympics, there is set to be a surge in interest in the sport. Having a free, accessible outdoor facility in the Coulsdon / Old Coulsdon area would open up the sport to new generations of skaters and would allow local skaters to practice in a safe space.

Three potential sites for the facility currently are Grange park, Marlpit Park and Rickman Hill park. Discussions with local residents would take place to agree on a suitable location. Careful consideration would take place to ensure that any facility would complement the local environment and not look out of place.

The new skatepark will be a free-to-use, safe, inclusive and family orientated sports facility for users of all ages. Professionally designed and constructed by a company selected by the 'Coulsdon Skatepark Project (CSP)' with design input from local skatepark users and other stakeholders.

Skateparks are proven to increase health, well-being and community cohesion whilst reducing social exclusion and anti-social behaviour. The skatepark will not only benefit skatepark users, it will enhance Coulsdon and will be an asset to the whole community.
