On 27th October 2017 Susan Fuller was mown down outside her home by Sean Herman. She was a loving wife, a mother of three sons, a sister, an aunty and a loyal friend to anyone that was lucky enough to know her. She sustained horrific injuries and died in her son's arms on the road outside their home. She suffered extensive major injuries to her head and her chest including 58 rib fractures.

Sean Herman was charged with murder, our family were advised by the Crown Prosecution Service that there was overwhelming evidence on which to find him guilty. They reassured us that the only charge they would consider was murder. We as a family took some comfort in that, that justice would be served.

On 16th April 2018 Sean Herman appeared at Newcastle Crown Court. On the morning of the hearing Susan's family were taken into a room and advised that the CPS were prepared to accept manslaughter and Mr Herman would be sentenced that day. Our family were shocked, angry and horrified but had no say in the decision taken. Later that day, Sean Herman was sentenced to 7 years for taking the life of Susan Fuller. He will serve only half of that sentence behind bars.

The Police described Herman's actions that day as a "vicious and cowardly attack" and that "he deserves to spend a significant time in prison" however Justice Goss saw fit to only impose a sentence of 7 years for her murder, an insult to the beautiful woman who lost her life.

Please sign this petition to voice your disgust at the sentence given to Sean Herman. Please acknowledge that Susan Fuller's life was worth so much more than this.
