St. Margaret's Hospital  was built in 1897 by the Colonial missionaries. It is one of the first western healthcare institutions in West Africa. It has served  as a primary, secondary and tertiary healthcare  institution for more than  a 120 years. It is is strategically located with a distinctive 19th century colonial architecture. It has influenced the lives of millions of African  and the colonialists, who have benefited from western healthcare and training. It now stands as a heritage site in a town that prides itself for its tourism endowment.. Suddenly and without any consultations, someone in Government is bulldozing the  structures down, presumably for private developement.  The demolition must stop. The structure should be restored as a heritage site.
