On February 4 2022 around 1330 officer Steven Hatcher shot and killed Nick Rodin. At the time of the shooting Nick Rodin was unarmed. Nick posed no threat to the public, himself or the officer. Nick was walking back from the mailboxes minding his own business. He was on the phone with a friend when officer Hatcher stopped him. Nick leaves his phone on but placed it in his pocket and put his hands in the air. The Universal surrender sign. The officer yells at Nick. Telling him to get down on the ground. Nick asked officer Hatcher what he did wrong, And why he needed to get on the ground! Officer Hatcher yells at nick once again to get on the ground but this time he threatens him. Hatcher tells Nick he won’t hesitate to blow his head off his shoulders.  Nick tells Hatcher that he has a baby on the way.  Hatcher responded with “I don’t give a fuck!” Seconds later shots rang out and nick was heard saying “he shot me.” Surroundings Neighbors heard four shots. Nicks body laid on the gravel road for nine hours. The Oregon State police and the Crook County district attorneys office  is heading the investigation!  They have failed to release a preliminary Discovery. It has now been over a month since Hatcher killed Nick. We still have no answers as to the justification of lethal force. The fact that the Crookcounty attorneys office isn’t even responding to media request for information should spark the communities outrage. This could have been anyone of us. We are demanding And we deserve and we have the right to know why lethal force was used on an unarmed citizen. It is the officers duty to Deescalate any situation and lethal should be the absolute last use of force. It is the officers responsibility and his duty to protect and serve With ethics and integrity.
