MAZIR ABBASI started this petition to Congress and

Normalization of hate has become a menace in India. It has happened due to lack of discourse and discussion which makes people isolated hence giving rise to fake news where people tend to believe anything they read on internet.

To oppose this, many liberal organisations and parties tried to indulge people into debate and discussion. But to halt it, the right wing parties gave them labels like anti-national, terrorist, ISIS sympathizer, Pakistani, Jinnah supporter etc. which makes their entire argument null and void because now the common Indian doesn't want to hear a word from their mouth. Kanhaiya Kumar is a best example of this process where his argument is not even heard by most people because they think he's anti-national and does not share common interests with them.

Hence, I request you people to convince your state government's to pass laws criminalizing giving such serious tags not backed by any proof. Certain things I believe should be criminalised

1-Calling a person/party/org -anti-national, maoist, terrorist, ISIS sympathizer, naxals, and other such names without any substantive proof of such claim.

2-The way it is illegal to call an north east India a chinese it should be illegal too to call a muslim Pakistani, Jinah Supporter, Jihadi, Talibani and other such demeaning names without any substantive proof of such act. It will help in assimilation of Muslims in mainstream society by making them proud of their own identity.

3- It should be criminalized to say that India should be converted into a Islamic, Sikh or Hindutva state, as it compromises national security and sovereignty of Indian state. Any tangible step taken in the direction should be curtailed by even stricter laws.

4-Outright lies in political speeches that changes the perception of voter in the election because this makes elections unfair, as the vote is being given on basis of a lie. Since, free and fair election falls under basic structure of constitution, this should not be compromised just because someone wants to win an election.

5-Calling Nathuram Godse a national hero or a freedom fighter, as it de-legitimizes the contribution of M.K.Gandhi, which in turn de-legitimizes the peaceful struggle of our independence.

I believe these steps would make us more democratic and enhance our faith in it. It would ultimately help us raise the quality of life of an ordinary Indian which is the basic purpose of our democracy.
