During her brief run for Conservative Party Leader, Attorney General Suella Braverman called for the suspension of the 2050 Net-Zero commitment. I have just read she received a £10,000 donation from the former chair of the Global Warming Policy Foundation, a climate change denying group who have links with and donate to the Tory party.

Rupert Murdochs media empire has consistently played down or flat out denied climate change, whilst pushing for reduction in green levies and promoting fossil fuel industry and climate change.

The Barclay Brothers owned Telegraph is also guilty of pushing climate denial.

It is time to make denying climate change a criminal offence. Specifically, denying climate change for financial gain, i.e. the person has a stake in a company that profits from weaker climate policies, such as the fossil fuel industry. 

This would entitle the removal of media devices from anyone found guilty - like banning Murdoch from owning British media. Also it would be a crime for MPs to deny climate change, such as Lord Frost yesterday, for financial gains.

This does not mean people cannot question the scope of climate change, nor the response to it. Just that they couldn’t do that for anti-science based financial gain.
