Pam Staffell started this petition to Cressida Dick and/or Priti Patel the Home Secretary

The Met Police Chief Cressida Dick has to be replaced in order to bring back trust and confidence in Britain's biggest police force. After another statement from Cressida Dick on 30th September, in response to the horrific Sarah Everard case, she once again used the words " lessons will be learned". The home secretary, Priti Patel, said there were “serious questions that need to be answered by the Metropolitan Police."

This is not the first time Cressida Dick’s resignation has been called for. Calls for her to step down came after the cover-up of Daniel Morgan’s death, issues of Stop and Search, and the outrageous handling of the Sarah Everard vigil. Most recently, an open letter from victims of police failings accused her of “presiding over a culture of incompetence and cover-ups”.

Over the past five years, (Cressida Dick has been Commissioner since 2017) UK police forces have received more than 800 allegations of domestic abuse against officers and staff. Just 43 – around 5% – were prosecuted. These figures certainly do not give a true portrayal of the scale. Many women don’t report domestic abuse to the police as it is. Since 2009, at least 16 women have been killed by serving or former police officers in the UK. Killed by policemen who are meant to be protecting you.

The Labour leader, Keir Starmer, has led calls for an inquiry into how Everard’s killer, Wayne Couzens, a Metropolitan police officer who had been reported for indecent exposure on three occasions, “slipped through the cracks”. “[We] have to understand why that happened, and whether there were any assumptions made when his previous wrongdoing was looked at,” he said.

The Labour MP Yvette Cooper went further, calling for a full independent investigation into violence against women and girls within the police service.

Met Assistant Commissioner Nick Ephgrave fought back tears as he admitted the case had caused such 'corrosion' of trust in police that he would advise his own daughters to dial 999 if they didn't trust a police officer on their own.

Harriet Harman, who chairs parliament’s joint human rights committee, said in a letter to Cressida Dick that it was “not possible” for her to stay in the post as “women’s confidence in the police has been shattered”.

The Met pledged to deploy 650 new officers and increase patrols to do more to protect women and girls but we are not even seeing the extra 9,814 police officers promised plus with all the Police Stations closed across London, there is so much talk and not enough action.

Women are being murdered by the very people meant to protect us. How many more times must this happen?

The Met Police and the London public urgently need someone who takes a zero-tolerance approach. Cressida Dick has proved she can’t and won’t. Therefore  Commissioner Dick must be replaced.
