The GOAL OF THIS PETITION is for Creighton to grant students that live in dorms their right to have guests in their residences, and treat students like adults. Not checking IDs after every entrance into the building. People who live in houses or apartments off campus are allowed to bring their family over. Creighton housing should not be given the right to prohibit students from having their family over or at least one guest over at a time. When many students return to campus in the Spring, they may want their family to visit, their friends, their significant others to come over and stay, or even their study buddies to come over who do not live on Creighton campus. This can all be done while still maintaining physical distancing. As long as guests are pre-screened for fever, wear a mask, and follow CDC guidelines, all students should have the ability to have a guest over if they choose. We are adults and college students struggling to keep good mental health, and guest privileges should not be revoked just because of COVID-19. The Creighton community is doing their part in doing frequent testing and following CDC guidelines to stay safe, and as long as we are doing our part, we should be able to have guests. Students have their own lives. They have the right to feel like their dorm is their safe space; their space separate from school to spend time with their significant other, friends, family, and their space to enjoy. Students should be allowed to have at least one guest at a time in their Creighton Housing. There is already a mental health crisis on our campus and by preventing students from having people over and forcing them to not have private time with their significant other or a space for their family to come eat lunch with them on the weekend is just wrong. PLEASE SHARE AND SIGN THIS PETITION TO MAKE SURE THAT CREIGHTON DOES NOT TAKE GUEST PRIVILEGES AWAY FOR STUDENTS WHO ARE PAYING THOUSANDS OF DOLLARS TO HAVE A SPACE TO LIVE.
