A local children's Nursery school (Flutterbies) on the Cregagh road has been told it needs to close due to financial reasons. We were informed by letter with no parental consultation that the nursery will be closed as of March 2018 leaving 3 months before the end of the year. We are petitioning to ask the church to consider our proposals, and allow the nursery to remain open until end of June so that the children can see out their pre-school year. We will fundraise and local councillors are getting involved to try and access emergency funding. Cregagh Methodist Church Council have made the decision to close the nursery and we would like to appeal to them to consider what the children are missing out on in those remaining few months. The chance to socialise, make friends, learn turn taking, learn patience, improve speech and confidence etc. Some of the children have learning difficulties and others language barriers but the staff work tirelessly to ensure that the nursery is inclusive and every child given the opportunity to thrive. To try and settle the children in other nurseries will cause some children huge upset with many just getting over separation anxiety after being left for the first time with others coming to the nursery.
