The people of Christchurch Dorset no longer have direct democratic access to planning decisions made on their behalf. After the merger of Bournemouth Christchurch and Poole councils planning decisions are made by councillors across the area. Hence decisions are being made by people who live in other urban areas who may not understand or be aware of local issues. Christchurch councillors are only a small proportion of the whole BCP area so decisions are unrepresentative of the people in Christchurch.
