We want to  express our  desire to have the option to send our children to a nearby ,  zoned high school. 
We have a right to a free, fair and accessible education for our families.  We believe this includes  the choice for our children to attend a local school without having  the  risk and time commitment  of a long commute.
The benefits of a local high school are many. Having a local school builds community.  Without a morning and afternoon commute students have more time to do homework and to  participate in after school activities. Shorter commuting time allows for more sleep, which teenagers certainly need more of ! And it is safer. The subways are crowded and riddled with crime; many parents are struggling to bring their kids to school by car or cab at this point.
Our children and families need a guaranteed local school option !
