I am asking for support in convincing Tameside Council to implement traffic calming measures at the junction of Stockport Road and Lilly Street in Gee Cross. 

This is a dangerous junction due to the fact that traffic turning right onto Stockport Road from Lilly Street does not have a clear view down Stockport Road so when they do make their manoeuvre they do so somewhat blind.

The main issue at this junction is the speed at which vehicles travel. Tameside Council Traffic Operations have already been approached to conduct some research on the speed of traffic here but they referred me to GMP who in turn referred me back to TMBC.

This is a busy route for foot traffic, particularly with school children walking from Alder CHS and dog walkers. There have been two accidents already at this junction in the past 10 months due to speed. 

I suggest the best way to deal with the speed of vehicles is to create a speed table which is a raised flat area with a hump on either side. This will force traffic travelling along Stockport Road to slow reducing the risk to people trying to cross or traffic emerging from Lilly Street.
