Eggs are an important part in many people’s daily lives as they play a large part in most diets. However, the animals that produce these eggs for us are being exploited and used as machines. The product produced is subpar just as the living conditions for these animals are subpar. These chickens are shoved in small cages with 2-3 other chickens and fed full of GMOs, antibiotics, and other hormones in order to produce as many eggs as they can until they’re disposed of. The eggs from these chickens are not being produced in the healthiest or most productive way, but merely the quickest way possible in order for large corporations to cash out while the chicken and consumer suffer. The chickens suffer psychologically and physically as they live confined prison-like lives. Not only do the chickens suffer but so too does egg quality. The numerous additives and poor living conditions create eggs that get more and more unhealthy as the years go by. The once nutritious and important part of people’s diet is slowly becoming just another unhealthy addition to the food we consume. These are all reasons that there should be strict guidelines set forth for corporations who seek to make money from egg sales. These quality of life improvements will in turn affect egg quality and create a healthier food for consumers. These guidelines should be routinely checked up on and enforced to insure that these chickens live to their full potential and that consumers get the best possible product.
