Create Dog Friendly Beach Area - Alameda, CA
Why this petition matters

Dogs should be allowed in designated areas at Robert W. Crown Memorial State Beach. Alameda Beach is a beautiful place where families enjoy sunny days on the bay. Sadly, furry family members are not welcome and end up being left at home alone. Many families would love to take their dogs to swim and play in the shallow water. There are many examples of successful dog and family- friendly beaches including Ocean Beach, Golden Gate beach, Albany Beach and San Quentin Beach. Despite the Alameda Beach rules, it's not uncommon to see people walking their dog on the beach or keeping them on leash by their towels. These people are risking a big fine if they are reported to the police. We recognize that any dog friendly area should be placed far away from the Elsie Roemer Bird Sanctuary, which is on the eastern-most point of the beach. There is plenty of room for nesting grounds, dog-free and dog-friendly beach areas.
Free the dogs this fourth of July!
