Create an Ordinance in Brookfield that Allows the Keeping of Bees & Promotes Pollination

We would like to begin along the path of creating an appropriate ordinance for the keeping bees in the City of Brookfield.
With the drastic decline in natural pollinators world wide, supporting these tiny creatures becomes everyone's responsibility. Even the Obama administration recognizes the need for protecting natural pollinators.
There are many beekeepers in Brookfield and the surrounding cities and counties. Hales Corners, the City of Waukesha, Big Bend, Delavan, Butler, & Wauwatosa have recently changed their ordinances in favor of beekeeping. The current ordinances on file on the City of Brookfield website do not mention bees. Because there is no mention of these pollinators, we assumed we were at liberty to participate in the protection and promotion of them.
Another member of the Milwaukee Waukesha Beekeepers Association received a letter recently saying that because beekeeping is not mentioned in an ordinance, it is therefore PROHIBITED. That logic would allow objection to just about everything one can install on their property from basketball hoops to birdhouses and everything in between.
We would like your support to help us move forward with an appropriately worded ordinance so everyone can feel safe, be educated about bees, and become part of the solution for the declining pollinators.
