Our community is brimming with young playful dogs that need an outlet to play in a safe environment! Sometimes allowing these early play opportunities sets the stage for the way that dogs will react to other dogs for the rest of their life (and the next 10+ years of the owners). Giving a productive outlet also helps to prevent destructive behavior.

Many public parks have off-leash hours before 9am and after 9pm, but frankly, it's not enough (after 9pm just isn't safe for many people's standards and before 9am is too early to get to for many and still be on time for work.) Additionally, some people don't people don't feel safe letting their dog off leash in an open area that leads to the traffic.

What's left? We've tried to share the elementary school playground on St. Marks but were kicked out by the school board, we've tried going (and keep trying to go) to Mt. Prospect Park during the afternoon but many of us have been ticketed and shooed out by park police. Others have tried the baseball field on Dean St. and handball court on Park Pl but have also been chased out.

We need our own space! One with a proper drainage system and turf in order to avoid the fatal leptospirosis problems that occurred at McCarren Dog Run. Who will join me in this effort?!
