Why this petition matters

The new planning application for the 5G monopole on Glen Fyne Road in Craigmarloch has been submitted to NLC.

Most residents will remember the original 5G monopole and disruption this caused to local residents and the cost incurred to correct the damage that was left in its wake.  The new plans site the monopole on the same side of the street but on the opposite side of the path that you use to cross to the duck pond. This in itself is an issue, as there is a 1 metre strip of grass and the siting of the equipment here will cause a serious obstruction for pedestrians and vehicles alike.  This is a very popular walking route for all ages and the safety of our residents is paramount in our reason for objecting to the monopole being sited in this area.  The two bus stops in that area are used by both service and school buses for  primary and secondary schools, so school age residents are using this crossing every day.

There also needs to be tighter rules on the visual impact of new infrastructure to ensure our cherished countryside is protected.  The size and scale of the monopole in these plans is approximately 3 metres above the highest trees in the area and is certainly not fit for a semi rural location such as this.  We accept that everyone wants the best connectivity they can get, but this should not be to the detriment of our local environment.
