GLYPHOSATE CHEMICAL USE WILL BE RETURNING TO PUBLIC SPACES IN THE CITY OF KINGSTON

After previously phasing out the use of Glyphosate back in 2019 due to concerns over the health and safety impact of Kingston residents, the environment, wildlife, and pets - disappointingly, Council has voted to resume the use of Glyphosate as a weed killer in public spaces within the City of Kingston.

Glyphosate will now be used as a form of weedkiller in low traffic areas which means it won't be used around playgrounds, childcare centres,  etc

Very disappointing when other countries are moving to ban the use of glyphosate especially with the US court case linking its long term use to Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. This chemical is known to be toxic and will filter back through rivers causing environmental damage, large part of our Kingston suburbs are surrounded by wetlands that we, Kingston council residents use for walks, bikerides etc. Plenty of dogs in the area and of course a vast diversity of wildlife call our beautiful wetlands home, other much more environmentally friendly products are available these days, come on Kingston Council, protect the residents of your area!
