End local traffic congestion around Exit 45 roundabouts

With the continued growth of Ormeau and the surrounding suburbs we are now seeing a massive increase in traffic that, due to the nature of the highway and surrounding roads, is causing massive congestion around the roundabouts on either side of Exit 45, especially along Peachy Rd. While the Highway, Off and Onramps, Bridge and Roundabout are State Government responsibilities, this petition is aimed to address the lack of action from GCCC with regard to the local road network surrounding Exit 45 that currently funnels all traffic (especially on the Peachy Road side) into the roundabouts. So far the only action the local council has taken is to install traffic lights outside the Woolworths on Peachy Rd, which is to address safety issues, not traffic congestion and management.
What We Hope To Achieve
We want to see a comprehensive traffic management plan designed, budgeted and implemented before the local council 2020 election:
- Undertake a comprehensive study of traffic patterns and congestion on the local road network surrounding Exit 45 at Ormeau.
- Propose solutions that will move traffic away from these roundabouts, including estimates of cost.
- Consult with the local community to find a mutually agreeable solution.
- Budget, and implement changes before the 2020 local elections.
How You Help
Sign the petition! Let other people in surrounding suburbs know about it and ask them to sign as well! Email your local council representative, Cr Donna Gates at firstname.lastname@example.org asking that action be taken.
