Why this petition matters

We are a current foster family in Medina County. During our journey we have realized the many issues with the current foster/adoption system. This one concerns our family personally.

We have had a foster child in our care from birth, we have been the ONLY family she has ever known, her parental rights were recently terminated and we filed to adopt her. She is baby number eight for the mom. CPS had placed her in our care as another family that had one of her half siblings was not deemed appropriate and there were concerns reported. These concerns had never been negated.

During court the lawyer questioned the witnesses regarding some of these concerns. Many red flags continued to be voiced and noted, and directions given by the Judge were not followed by the other family, which he was aware of. CPS did not advocate for this child and stated in court the other home would be the better place. When CPS was questioned they stated their concerns were relieved when they spoke with the other family yet CPS had still continued to leave her in our care because they felt that was the best placement. CPS told our family this was above their heads due to the other families many complaints and letters to various government entities.

We believe this case needs to be reviewed by a higher impartial authority for the many red flags that were presented and ignored. This is a major safety concern for her. Our foster daughter was ordered to be removed from our home within 10 days depending if the therapist thought she would have emotional trauma with just moving her or did she need a transition period since we have been her only family.

If it is reviewed and found that our home is the better placement we could officially adopt her as we had intended and get "our" little girl safely back.

It only takes a few seconds to sign. Let's do what is right for this little one and others like her.
