The speed of vehicles through Mesachie Lake is mostly, excessive, with little care for residents or road safety.

Many families enjoy Mesachie Lake, but the thought of a child stepping out into the road, would be one of certain injury.

We would like CVRD and Ministry of Transportation to look into alternative traffic calming measures as a matter of urgency.

The current speed limit is 30km/hr, which have proven ineffective, with motorists continuing to breach speed limits excessively.

The proposal is CVRD and Ministry of Transportation to implement traffic calming measures such as speed humps, radar signs, road painting, traffic island ect.

Studies have shown that traffic calming measures can reduce accident levels by up to 40% and have a significant impact on reducing the severity of accidents.

*Catching speeding motorists is a detection deterrent, not preventative, and will not stop an accident, or death, from happening.
