With great sadness, our charity "Friends of Castle Wood school" which provides extended services to children with SEND; has had to come to an end yesterday Saturday 4th May 2019. Leaving families all over Coventry devastated. The question is being asked
"What now?" "Why cant our children be given this service anymore?"

I am a trustee for this charity and have a child that attends, he has come such a long way and so have we as a family. We are heart broken.

The club has been relied upon by families of children with special needs for over a decade. There is no provision like it anywhere else in Coventry. The service would operate from 10am to 3pm every other Saturday and 3 full weeks during the summer holidays.
This allowed children to be given the care, and environment to develope further as they would at school, with amazing facilities and resources.
Parents have stated how their child went in happy and came out happy too. There would be great communication between parent and staff.

This in effect has saved other services so much in terms of preventative mental health problems and family crisis.
Friends of Castle wood school have always cared for every child and their individual needs. Providing such a brilliant service. They've always been transparent with all parents, and anyone else who wanted to see how the provision operated.

Having shut the place down, where are these children meant to go? How can they smile again? How do families cope? It needs to be re opened to bring back hope and the safe place to nourish and help develope these very special children further and to prevent families from becoming isolated and left to deal with everything on their own yet again.

Without Local Authorities funding from short breaks or any cooperation this cannot be done.
