Michael Bayless started this petition to Macon-Bibb County, GA District Attorney, and Bell County, TX District Attorney

Glendon Oakley is a national hero when he went out of his way to ensure the safety of numerous children during the tragic terrorist attack in El Paso, Texas. His selfless act under threat of personal harm reflects greatly on himself and far exceeds the expectations of an average American citizen.

Following the attack he has gotten praised as a hero. His name will be remembered far better than the terrorist and rightfully so. However, following the attack online articles mentioned his criminal history. Where I understand it was mentioned to show how he has grown as a person, I believe it's a story he's earned the right to tell without it being able to be used against him.

He's faithfully served his sentencing. Persevered for two years to get a military recruiter two work with him to enlist him in the military. Acted heroically to save numerous children, and after all that, he has demonstrated remarkable humility and desire to do better. His actions were second to none that day, and he wish he could have done better. That is the sign of a reformed man.

To the District Attorney and Courthouse in which his criminal history occurred, on behalf of grateful citizens across the nation, I believe this outstanding citizen Glendon Oakley deserves a clean slate without fear of repercussions from his younger years. I, and everyone that signs this petition, encourage you to consider  expunging his criminal record.
