Oppose ANY development & building on historic Corbett Meadow!

On Monday 4th November 2019, Countryside Properties will hold a public forum at Stourbridge Football Club to showcase potential building and development plans Corbett Meadow, an area of green space located behind Corbett Hospital, Amblecote.

This beautiful, historic green space was originally gifted to the people of Amblecote by John Corbett personally, to be used for their enjoyment, appreciation and well-being, and NOT to be used as the foundations of a housing estate or other development.

Through technicalities of ownership, the NHS are currently able to sell this land off for development purposes if they wish, something this petition seeks to actively oppose.

We firmly believe this beautiful green space should be preserved and maintained for its intended purpose, and oppose ANY building on this important local area of natural beauty, which has recently been granted a 'Local Green Space Designation' in recognition of its importance.

The people of Amblecote - to whom the land was gifted - should decide its future, and there have already been discussions about potential community and events use for the land (as was popular in past decades) but we actively oppose ANY building or development on the land.

Not only would building on this space rob us of one of the few areas of green space in Amblecote and the surrounding area, not only would it ruin an area of local historical significance and natural beauty, but the proposed developments would also create obvious major congestion issues and exacerbate the existing problems on the already extremely busy main thoroughfares at the bottom of Vicarage Road and along Amblecote High Street; already an accident and traffic hotspot.

I grew up on the adjacent Trinity Park Estate in Amblecote, and would be privileged enough to walk past and admire the meadow on a daily basis, as I walked to school, then college and later work in Stourbridge Town. I would also regularly frequent Car Boot sales and other events on the former Corbett Hospital car park, which were always backdropped by the beautiful meadow landscapes and their resident wildlife.

It is a key, iconic part of Amblecote's history and heritage, and should NOT be part of any building or development plans.

PLEASE SIGN, SHARE AND CIRCULATE THIS TO FRINDS, FAMILY, BUSINESSES AND ASSOCIATES IN THE AMBLECOTE AND WIDER STOURBRIDGE AREA SO THAT WE CAN PRESENT OUR OPPOSITION TO COUNTRYSIDE PROPERTIES ON MONDAY NOVEMBER 4TH.
