There is a petition with an open letter to Dennis king pushing for a mask mandate to continue for Island children, with no end date. I would like to counter that petition- in hopes that of our 160,000 residents, the majority can help our children! 

It’s sickening that anyone wants their children to have to continue doing this. 
I have to pick my son up and drop him off everyday… I have seen disgusting things happen to those masks, and then children have to continue wearing them! From them being trampled into dirt on the playground… to a girl shoving her entire mask into her mouth to be funny, and then hanging it on a tack dangling into other kids masks before entering the gym.  
They take them off and put them on SO many times a day, and they adjust them constantly without washing their hands. Even if worn 100% correctly the potential reduction in spread is what? 2-10% at Best. 
Those numbers, in addition to the fact that kids (even adults) do NOT wear them correctly- they never should have been enforced in schools. 
Children’s social development is being stunted. Not being able to see lips while learning to talk, or read social cues among their peers. 
Just gross!
