Hanna Principe started this petition to Councilor Bernard Herrera and

Stateholders:

  • Councilor Bernard Herrera
  • VP Gian Santos
  • DENR Secretary Roy Cimatu

Statement:

Quezon City is one of the most flooded area in the Philippines and i can't solve or clean the canals by myself, so for us QC residents to stop all this mess and stop this 'perwisyo'. We must take all the actions that we can to clean all of it little by little step and also to prove that QC is a world class city.

Statistics:

Hundreds of canals in Quezon City was occupied by eighty four percent of garbage and sixteen percent of dark water from different used of water and extract of different garbages. And sixty five percent of residents of Quezon City throw their leftover foods at the canals and the rest is garbage scattered at the roads.

Consequences:

  • Heavy floods
  • Health problems and complications
  • Stinky smell scattre
  • Garbage from canal sometimes end up in the sea.

Merits/benefits:

  • It can serves us as our alternative water supply
  • Land drainage
  • No flood anymore
  • Healthy living
  • Lessen the stinky odor

Philosophical views:

Environmental ethics, because i'm encouraging people or advocating peoples how to take responsibilty to their actions. Nature and our environment should be our foundation leading to a better future, we shouldn't take our environment for granted to satify all our needs. We can't survive without it. My topic about canals even if it is not as huge as global warming issue, it is still worth of attention. It's not that serious one but if we pursue this and no one would take action maybe the rage of the nature will make us regret and the future generation is involve.

Solution:

Always throw the the trash especially the plastics at the proper trash bin , don't throw leftover foods and other rotten garbage including the dead animals in the canals that can block the way of running water and can cause bad smell at the environment. Clean our area daily. Avoid using plastics and use recyclable things.

Closing statement:

Take time to appreciate nature that supplies us in everyday life. Nowadays, nature is taken for granted in order for people to satisfy their needs which is not good. So if we help each other to clean the environment it's like we are adding ten years more life of Earth. Canals used to be a habitat of a fishes, now the black water is all over the canals including garbages etc. Helping each others towards change is a good will. It's beneficial especially to those younger generations and future generations.
