Mar Vista Oval Crosswalk

Mar Vista Oval Crosswalk
Why this petition matters

Are you familiar with the Mar Vista Oval? It is in the southern portion of Mar Vista, in the City of Los Angeles, about 3 miles from the ocean. Many years ago it was boarded by Venice Blvd, on the south; north of Washington Blvd.; west of McLaughlin; and east of Inglewood Blvd. At some point it was dissected by Washington Place. Since the Oval has large parkways and double sidewalks, many people enjoy walking and walking their dogs. Plus, it is one mile around the whole loop, about 2000 steps. Most of the parkways have palm trees that were planted many years ago. Unfortunately, it has become more and more difficult to cross Washington Place.
About 5 years ago, I created a petition for a Mar Vista Oval Crosswalk, across Washington Place., either at Marcasel Blvd. or East Blvd. I collected many signatures, submitted them to the Department of Transportation and hoped for a positive response. My petition was denied after research by the Department. They determined that walkers could walk to McLaughlin or Inglewood to cross at the light. If you live on the Oval, most likely you will not cross at these streets. Now I have decided to make another attempt and submit this to Council Member Mike Bonin.
Please join me and sign my petition requesting a crosswalk across Washington Place on the Mar Vista Oval. Thank you and grateful for your help.
