DON'T LET DC'S RECYCLING PROGRAM GO TO THE DOGS!
Mayor Muriel Bowser's FY18 budget includes a $477,000 cut to the Department of Public Works' Office of Waste Diversion. This office oversees the District's recycling and waste reduction efforts.
Sign this petition to urge the DC Council to restore these monies to the FY18 budget so that the District can continue to work towards its recycling and other waste reduction goals! We'll deliver this petition to Councilmember Mary Cheh (D- Ward 3) who chairs the DC Council Committee on Transportation and the Environment!
- Councilmember Mary Cheh
We urge you to ensure that there are no FY18 budget reductions to DC's Department of Public Works Office of Waste Diversion! DC's residential waste diversion (the amount of refuse that it diverted away from landfills or incineration) is only 21% and lags far behind that of other cities such as San Francisco, Seattle and Portland. DC needs a fully funded budget to meet its waste reduction goals.
