No more abuse of the bike lanes on Clarkehouse Road!

Clarkehouse Road has an advisory cycle lane which vehicles can park in for free outside of peak times (which are 8am to 9.30am and 4.30pm to 6.30pm). In reality people begin parking and blocking the cycle lane from 9am onwards, they sit in their cars and wait until 9.30 when this parking becomes legitimate and they leave their vehicles.

This makes cycling along the road during rush hour difficult and potentially dangerous.  With many people starting work at 9:30 the cycle lane is effectively taken out of use from 9:00 a.m.. If Parking Services arrive to move people on, they simply drive around the block and return once Parking Services have left. This behaviour doesn’t just put cyclists lives at risk - it causes additional congestion to drivers in this very busy corridor.

This is the problem - we want Sheffield City Council to provide a solution.
