Kirsty Morris started this petition to Councillor Mark Winnington

Chasewater Reservoir has thousands of visitors each year, some taking part in recreational sport, others on family days out.

More recently, a 21 year old man named Carl Storer sadly lost his life by drowning, while trying to save the life of a 9 year old girl in the water.Myself and my family were there that afternoon.

It occurred to me that after many visits to Chasewater, I had only ever seen lifebouys around one side of the reservoir and along the dam wall. This means that along the beach area / shoreline ( which is quite a long stretch ) where most people picnic and bathe, there are no lifebuoys.

It is quite obvious to me that if lifebuoys would’ve been in place along the beach area that day, Carl’s life could’ve been easily saved.

I am very passionate that there is no need for any other person to lose their life drowning at Chasewater Reservoir. There is also no need for any other person to witness what many families did that afternoon.

For such a small cost,a minimum of 3 lifebuoys could be placed along the beach area / shoreline, to ensure that if anyone had entered the water and was in difficulty, there would be safety measures in place for other people in the vicinity to use.

If lifebuoys were placed in this area, lives will be saved, peoples sons or daughters, mothers, fathers or grandparents.Surely their lives are worth spending such a minimal amount.

This is why I am ask you to please, please sign this petition.
