Create an Off-Leash Dog Park in Ward 4 North
0 have signed. Let’s get to 100!
Our Mission is to create a dogs off-leash area in the northern area of Ward 4 (north of Eglington Ave. W.) to accommodate the numerous dog owners in both nearby homes and numerous apartments, assuring their dogs will get the proper exercise and socialization with other dogs needed, without risking receiving a fine from the city. This will improve the physical and social health of dogs in the area and create a community within the owners.
Currently, dog owners are left risking receiving a fine or having their dogs wander off if they choose to take their dog off-leash to socialize with other dogs. I have had numerous occasions where my dog, Penny, ran into the street, ran too far where I could not see her, or ran off to say hello to a far-away passerby. And I have seen other dogs do this quite frequently as well. There is a significant importance and need for an off-leash dog park in Ward 4 north, both for the animal's health, and of the owner's sound mind.
The City of Toronto is considering putting in an off-leash dog park in Ward 4, but has ruled out Wincott Park and Silvercreek Park. However, they are looking into Alex Marchetti Park or James Gardens. I do not believe that one dog park will be efficient, and that it would only be convenient to those living closer towards that area. The City of Toronto should consider building more than one dog park in Ward 4, but we, the dog owners of Ward 4 north, demand one be built north of Eglington to accommodate those who live in the numerous nearby apartment buildings.
