STOP COUNCIL TAKING OUR PARK

As a long term resident of the street (23 years), building of a sewerage pump station across the road and next to residents houses will adversely effect local house values and aesthetics in the local area. This area is the nearest park for approximately 2700 properties and around 8000 residents.
They have not conducted any community consultation in the local area, either by letter, email, door knocking or public meeting. Attempts to obtain information in March 2017 were ignored until further work commenced in November 2017. Further phone calls at this time and finally 8 months after the request documentation was delivered as per the request.
In the mean time Council has covertly tried to obtain the land through acquisition from Department of Natural Resources and Mines again without providing any community consultation and hoping no objections are submitted.
They have also tried to justify their actions by saying it will fix local residents sewerage issue. For the last 23 years neither myself or any other resident of the area has suffered from sewerage issues.
Council has left 75% of the park uncared for for 20 plus years and now because it will cost them minimal money they want the land for their own benefit without consideration of the residents in the local community.
Council have viable alternatives by including this site within the new proposed development instead of impacting on long term local residents, who purchased their properties in good faith with the expectation they would always have a local park across the road.
Please support our petition and stop Council from obtaining land in our local community.
