WHEREAS, The Cornell Dog Park ("The Park") was constructed as part of the scope of the Cornell Community Park Project ("The Project") in Ward 5;

WHEREAS, The scope of The Project did not include adequate lighting for The Park;

WHEREAS, The end of summer means shorter days, with the sunsetting as early as 4:41PM, which creates an unsafe environment for both dogs and residents at The Park during the evening;

WHEREAS, Proper lighting, such as the stadium lights, will help to create a safe environment at The Park, allowing residents to safely supervise their dogs in the evening;

WHEREAS, The Project has not been completed which leaves open the opportunity to expand the scope of The Project to include proper lighting for The Park; now, therefore,

BE IT RESOLVED, That proper lighting for The Park be added to the scope of the remainder of The Project. 

BE IT FURTHER RESOLVED, That the community is consulted on the project to allow for feedback from local residents.
