Doug Lowe started this petition to Squamish Council and

The current boat launch off of Loggers Lane is in poor condition. The two existing launch ramps are poorly designed and in bad condition. There are no docks to tie off your boat for ease of launching and coming back on shore. The parking space is limited and has no organization to it at all. The road access to the boat launch is busy and getting more congested every year.

An improved and relocated boat launch area would provide the following:

1) Alllow community members and visitors to have better access to the ocean for a wide range of water recreational activities.

2) Increase in the Squamish retail and service industry with more tourism

2) Provide a more accessible and efficient ramp for the Marine Search and Rescue

3)  Provide a way for kite boarders to get to Spit  island  once the Spit is partially dismantled.

A boat launch in a quieter area of town with properly formed launch ramps designed to handle low and high tides as well as floating docks would make the launching of boats easier and most importantly SAFER.

Squamish is "hardwired for adventure" so let's make this happen.
