Mental Health education in School

Mental Health education in School
We want to help further the education at schools about mental health and mental disorders. This will help adolescents understand how serious and common it is to be adversely affected by this. We want everyone to understand it’s okay to ask for help and nothing to be ashamed of.
As a part of generation Z, we have been affected immensely by the pandemic and we have seen what it can do to your mental well-being. Due to the ongoing Pandemic, so many of us have missed out on key childhood milestones that we base our future on, for example: social skills and team work amongst peers. Interaction with others has become extremely difficult to achieve, so especially for the younger years, ages of 10-16, who are still in their developing stages, could be becoming mentally unwell. For instance anxiety or social anxiety, as a result of the isolation.
One in five children will face a significant mental health condition during their school years. This could result to worse grades or bad habits during school time. This could heavily affect the pupils’ future. Currently only 38% percent of schools reportedly teach about mental well being. This is a large gap of students being left uneducated about this possibly life-threatening matter.
