NO NEW OIL AND GAS WELLS IN BROOMFIELD

As a result of the tragic events in Firestone, we do not trust that our safety and welfare are being put ahead of oil and gas development as required by the Court Ruling in the Martinez vs. COGCC case. Here is a link to an article discussing this ruling:
In light of this ruling and the recent, avoidable tragedy in Firestone, we demand that no new oil and gas wells be allowed into Broomfield until the following conditions are met. We also request that these guidelines are incorporated into the recommendations made to City Council by the council selected Oil & Gas Task Force.
1. Creation of a comprehensive map, of all existing pipelines, flow lines, and gathering lines that is publicly searchable.
2. Operators must commit to monthly testing and have a ZERO leak rate in all existing infrastructure. Operators must maintain this threshold for a minimum of 12-months before they can apply for any new drilling operations.
3. Human error is unavoidable. No technology protects citizens from human error. We ask that city council regulate pipelines that leave the pad, both flow lines and gathering lines, and place set backs from homes, schools, and water sources. We have provided a study to be used in reference to these setbacks:
As a reminder, we participate in a representative government. This starts at a local level. We expect you, our city council, to support our right for representation free of any conflict of interests based on political affiliations. THIS IS OUR RIGHT. We will hold any elected officials that fail to represent us as we request, accountable during the election process and through additional recall processes if needed.
