Combatting BIPOC Discrimination from CSULB Theatre Arts Administration.

Combatting BIPOC Discrimination from CSULB Theatre Arts Administration.

The Issue

There has been an ONGOING history of micro aggressions and little to performative support for BIPOC Theatre Students in the CSULB Theatre Community.

We demand change.

These are just a few suggestions to begin with:

- Demand for BIPOC Full-Time Faculty and Mentors.

- In the case that a BIPOC Theatre Student must perform in a manner that relives their ancestral trauma: accessible Mental Health Resources/Emotional Support to all BIPOC Theatre Students must be demanded and better vocalized.

- Demand for a new curriculum that greatly amplifies BIPOC Theatre Artists and their History rather than the Western Theatre.

- Outreach Programs that give opportunities to BIPOC High School Students.

- Drastic Reflection in which Plays are produced at CSULB Theater Arts.

- Drastic Countability Regulations/Actions for Professors and Administration that are blatantly Racist and Anti-Black.

- Demand for Weekly Updates on the Plan of Action that is to be sent to Dean by end of Academic Year 2020-2021

- Investigation into current Faculty and Administration who have a history/case of Anti-Blackness and racist actions.

- Demand for any change listed above that is possible to happen now rather than soon.

- Demand for amplification of BIPOC Students’ voices always and from now on. Do not shove us into a separate group. Make us the focal attention.

The need for BIPOC to relive their Trauma so that they can be heard is over. This is us demanding change. The time for listening is long overdue.

Make it happen.
