We need to get down to using NO PLASTIC in grocery and variety stores. But in the meantime, Costco could get rid of at least half their plastic use without much effort, as so many products are needlessly double-plastic-packaged.
Costco uses plastic even within plastic wraps to pack the stuff they sell. There is no need for this kind of waste and environmental pollution.
For example, paper towels are individually wrapped in plastic and then 12 of them are wrapped again in plastic. Bananas are in plastic bags, as well as apples and pears. Raspberries are packed in their own plastic container.
Costco is selling bulk stuff so why sell plastic with it - either use recyclable materials or allow people to bring their own containers.
