Costa Mesa City Council Plans To Put A Dangerous, Santa Ana River-Like Trail In Your Backyard!!!

If you live on El Rio Circle, Mission Drive, St. Clair Street, Drake Avenue, Post Road, Anza Lane, Regis Lane, Alanzo Lane, Miguel Lane, Ballow Lane, MilbromStreet, Crofton Street, Babb Street, or the new Elara development by DeNova Homes, this “Homeless Highway” will affect you!

The Paularino Channel Bike Trail Project:

This dangerous and unnecessary proposed Bike Trail would run between Fairview Road and Bristol Street, directly behind over 50 houses and schools. City Council rejected further study of this Bike Trail in 2007 due to Mesa del Mar resident outrage. But they’re at it again!

What’s Wrong With A Bike Path?
The nearby Santa Ana River Trial became such a cesspool with feces and dirty needles that it attracted national attention. And a similar Bike Trail, the Joann Street Trail, running from Harbor Blvd. to Placentia Ave. attracted vagrants, drug users, homeless and criminals to that neighborhood.

What can we expect if this trail is approved?

2 years of very loud construction. New public bathrooms. Potential right of way takes. Hiding spots for coyotes. Dirty needles everywhere. Homeless encampments will pop up. Break-ins through your back door. Not to mention, the intrusions of noise from passersby … at all times of day and night … with strangers looking through your windows … at your children.

Property Values Will Decrease.
When another similar Bike Trail was proposed behind the homes on Tanager Dr., every respected real estate agent contacted indicated that those property values would be significantly reduced by such a Bike Trail by $100,000 or more. It’s not just a detriment to your quality of life and depriving you of the rightful enjoyment of your property – this destructive Bike Trail will negatively impact your pocketbook … your retirement … your financial well-being.

Call To Action:
We can fight this! The residents along Tanager Dr. succeeded both getting that Bike Trail removed from the City Plan, and also in getting a Resolution that prohibits any future consideration of that Bike Trail.

So, PLEASE:

  • Sign this Petition - don’t let the out-of-Town Bike lobby turn our neighborhood into a dumping ground!
  • Write City Council and tell them “NO PAULARINO CHANNEL TRAIL”
  • Vote for Council members who will protect our safety.
Mayor Katrina Foley, and Council member Andrea Marr, are in favor of this "Paularino Channel Bike Trail".
