It is not a relatively alienated knowledge for a majority of people that dating a colleague in a corporate setting is either highly discouraged or banned. In most countries, corporate organizations impose strict dating policies among employees of the same company.

In other countries and/or companies however, this dating policy is not strictly followed and in others is simply seen as null. Companies around the world must open up to official legal workplace romance among their employees since it helps boost morale and productivity. This calls that despite discouragements and disagreements on allowing workplace romance, working with people with whom you share a special bond and relationship improves your performance as an employee/employer.

According to psychology experts, being comfortable and being inspired while working boosts your creativity and productivity as well. Thus, this allows an employee to perform at their peak and prime best. Additionally, developing romantic feelings for people with whom you work with approximately 8-10 hours a day for 5-6 days, sometimes even 7 straight days, is really not impossible. 

That said, some psychologists argue that one of the causes of stress among employees aside from their jobs and their expectations is on the event that they have to keep something from everyone else within the workplace because this makes it very uncomfortable for them to be in the workplace with their colleagues, and that this discomfort is what will degrade their productivity.

Alternatively, if they were able to be open with their relationships with a fellow colleague in the workplace, it would certainly reduce the burden they carry. Consecutively, according to the Industrial Personnel Group (2017), working with people whom you love working with improves your teamwork, boosts your morale, it can increase the company’s employee retention rate, and ultimately, INCREASE PRODUCTIVITY.

Dating policy bans should be lifted. It creates a positive domino effect as it boosts morale, creativity and productivity. This in return helps their overall performance which then ultimately leads to the improvement of the overall performance of the company or organization.
